Montclair State University Partners with RADical Hope

Montclair State University has partnered up with RADical Hope to support the mental, physical and emotional health of its students.

“We are excited to launch RADical Health at Montclair State University for the first time this spring!” shared Megan McHugh, Associate Director of Special Events at Montclair. “Roughly 50 Montclair students have opted in to participate in the pilot program. Our strong group of peer Guides were sourced from other wellness hubs across campus including Health Promotions, Counseling and Psychological Services and Campus Recreation.”

Montclair will run 6 RADical Health groups, each of which will have 2-3 peer Guides and 7-10 participants. Under the direction of RADical Hope program leaders, all peer Guides receive comprehensive training around how to lead RADical Hope’s 4-week resilience program to their fellow classmates.

“We kicked things off with an effective and engaging peer Guide training in February and will start the four weeks of RADical Health right after students return from spring break in March,” added Megan McHugh. “We’re confident that RADical Health will become a staple here at Montclair for future classes of students to come.”

RADical Health’s 4-week program was developed with behavioral health specialists, adolescent psychologists, academic leaders and input from students across the country. The program is peer-led and under the direction of trained Guides, participants explore topics including self-care, stress management, active listening, emotional regulation and informed decision-making.

To reduce barriers to adoption and to ensure equal access to the program, RADical Hope fully funds all costs associated with its implementation for every partner.
